ISO 12647: Colour Management Support
The colour management standard aims to address all the issues of colour consistency which have plagued print buyers in the past.
TPG can support customers in meeting the colour management standard: through access to an independent national network of print experienced consultants TPG Training and Consultancy can provide training in the standard to ensure your company meets not just its requirements, but also ensuring that the overall management process is geared up to consistently meeting the standard. We offer a simple approach to the complex issue of implementing process control over the entire production workflow. Printers face concerns when adopting new standards, but TPG are experienced and can guide printers through the procedure in a simple and cost effective way.
To be successful, printing companies must be driven to deliver quality. In an increasingly competitive market, a clear commitment to quality is one of the key differentiators that will enable a company to win new opportunities and retain customers. In the offset printing business, this means striving to reach the highest colour precision – and being able to deliver it again and again.
Many large corporate buyers and print managers have welcomed the ISO 12647 Colour management standard as a means to help ensure colour standardisation through their supply chain. Printers with quality and consistency in mind have always been keen to ensure that consistency of colour in the printed product is a key part of their offering to customers.

Certification ISO 12647-2
Certification is achieved through audits against the scheme’s requirements by an accredited certification body for ISO 12647-2. Due to the highly specialised nature of the scheme certification bodies have to demonstrate that their auditors are competent to understand their customer’s processes fully.
The audits combine an audit of the organisation’s colour quality and production management system and an audit test of sample product for each press within the scope of the certification. Once certified, organisations will need to continue to demonstrate product conformity through their own testing of products and will be subject to ongoing audits, usually annually.
How do I tell my customers that I am certified?
You can use the compliant product claim on invoices and delivery notes. Once certified you will receive prestigious 12647-2 certification mark to use for promotion of your company on letterheads, brochures, websites etc.
